I think everyone needs to go read what Pollard had to say today at the Winter Sports press conference.
I've said before that JP was lied to as much as the fans, and this proves it.
Pollard said Chizik interviewed for the Auburn job on Thursday, but left a voice mail that night saying he would not take the position. Early on Friday, Pollard said, Chizik had reiterated that would remove himself from consideration.
Between 1-5 p.m. on Friday, however, Pollard said he and senior assistant athletic director Steve Malchow were not able to reach Chizik through telephone calls or text messages.
Pollard knows what it will take for ISU to be suceessful, and he wants to stay and do it. True, any other job he would take would not bring the giantic salary increase a head coach recieves, but we need to believe him when he talks about his feelings for ISU. After getting burned, it's easy to want to blame someone and call for accountabilty. ISU athletics, and by proxy, the cheerleaders, dance team, mascots, bands, and others are in good hands with Jamie at the helm. Let's get behind the program, and the athletes when they most need our support.
