South Dakota State 65, Iowa State 58

Not much to break down in this one. All the credit in the world to South Dakota State. We continue to be a running joke. I don't think there's any remaining game on the schedule that can be considered a sure win anymore.

As you can see from the gamethread, I was giving the team another chance to shake off the bad vibes. Didn't work.

I'm totally apathetic towards this loss. That should be the most concerning thing of all.

I guess the good news is

only 8 more months until football season.

I know there’s a lot of ‘Fire McDermott’ talk at this point, but I’m not interested in that at this point. I think the next few years will really show off his recruiting. How long is his contract?

McD's Contract

6 years. Cyclone fans these days are being impatient. I don’t think they know what it’s like to have 3 coaches in 4-5 years (which is the case for football right now, and was the case for basketball when Mac took the helm), and how hard that can be on a program.

Agree in some ways

The LE fallout created division amongst fans that have lasted all of these years. I agree McDermott hasn’t done much.

I just remember when the LE thing was doing down, boosters, parents, and recruits were divided on what to do. Then all of these people were disgruntled about Wayne Morgan – he never had a shot at ISU.

I think people were generally excited about McDermott and I agree he hasn’t delivered yet.

At the very least, basketball is a sport we’ve had some success in, and it’s the most feasable high revenue sport for ISU success….

I guess I don’t see us bringing anyone in better than McD, and I’d like to see how the 2009 and 2010 class look before I decide.

Well

I don’t think you can justify your decision on a coach based on who is available…

Perhaps not

I do want to see how the team looks next year with Gilstrap and Colvin though. If we don’t make some big strides then, then I’d say the McD era shot clock is on.
