Iowa State Will Hire Yancy McKnight as Strength Coach

Expect a formal announcement soon of Yancy McKnight (formerly of Rice) as the new football strength and conditioning coach at Iowa State. A number of sources, including one last night, have indicated that this should happen soon. Offensive coordinator Tom Herman worked with McKnight at Rice.

Assistant Clayton Oyster may join McKnight at Iowa State in a similar position.

McKnight's stop at Rice was preceded by positions at Louisiana Tech (head strength coach) and Oklahoma State (assistant strength coach).

McKnight will likely tailor his style to individual position groups, working with speed and acceleration at skill positions, while emphasizing power and strength in the trenches.

EDIT: This blog reports on the thoughts from the Rice side of things.
