Week 12: Last Regular Season Gamethread
Iowa St. Cyclones at Missouri Tigers, Nov 21, 2009 1:00 PM CST
Boy would it be nice to see ISU close out the regular season strong. Nevertheless, I will go out and say that no matter the outcome, this team will play in a bowl of some sort. Looking forward to seeing how the team does, and disappointed that this game is not on TV. This matchup looks so much better now than it did 10 days ago, or whenever it was decided we'd be blacked out.
At the end of the day, it's more than just a bowl game. It's all about this:

Ok, well maybe not. I do wonder how many Cyclone fans realize that this game has a trophy?
Anyhow, I'll be listening on the radio, and posting my thoughts about the game. You are welcome to join in!
Go State!

Well that didn't help
Washington runs for 7-8 yards, and an ISU facemask at the end of the play… .Mizzou now on the 4

Washington up the middle for the TD.... Mizzou 7, ISU 0
The Tigers are able to capitalize off of the Arnaud INT
Arnaud to Darks for 23 yards, 2 A-Rob rushes for 14 yards, A-Rob reception for 8 yards, then the rest is history

Looked more like a zone read
Hard to tell though. DL was in the backfield before anything could happen.
Oh ok, gotcha
Just going off of the radio guys… Thanks!
I take it you’re in the press box or something?

ISU 10, Mizzou 10, A little over 3:00 left
Other than not scoring, this was a great drive for the Cyclones. They moved the ball methodically down the field, and ate up some clock in the meantime…
Also, the defense has picked it up and come up big the last couple of Missouri possessions
I have to say I'm impressed... 4 plays, 66 yards, in 30 seconds or so, and no timeouts used
They will likely go into the half with the lead, and they will get the ball first to start the 3rd Quarter
ISU has all of the momentum right now!
Lots of guys are stepping up… Halfway done, but now they need to play the second half like how they played the last part of the 1st quarter, and the 2nd quarter!
I hope they can come out of the locker room and continue playing like this!
Halftime Stats
First Downs: ISU 12, Mizzou 14
3rd Down Conv: ISU 3/7, Mizzou 2/7
Total Yards: ISU 218, Mizzou 225
Passing Yards: ISU 180, Mizzou 123
Rushing Yards: ISU 38, Mizzou 102
Penalties: ISU 3-28, Mizzou 2-10
Turnovers: ISU 1, Mizzou 1
TOP: ISU 12:39, 17:21
ISU Key Players:
Arnaud: 16/22 for 170 yards, 1 TD, 1 Pick
Darks: 5 catches for 85 yards, 1 TD
A-Rob: 9 carries for 32 yards, 4 catches for 39 yards
Missouri Key Players:
Gabbert: 12/18 for 123 yards
Washington: 11 carries for 62 yards, and 1 TD
Danario Alexander: 5 catches for 56 yards
So far
ISU hasn’t gotten completly burned, and has caused 2 fumbles, recovering 1. If the defense continues to play hard, and if the offense can continue to find the open guy and move the ball, I’m looking optomistic.
Missouri has a good rush defense, and it’s been awesome to see ISU pass the ball reasonably well.
Can’t wait for the 2nd half! Let’s go STATE!
sounds like arnaud hurt his hand again
"Stats from the spring," he said when handed the numbers. "I can take those down to the spare bathroom in the house. We can put them to use down there."

We will see if he can play through it and/or if Tiller can step up again

Stats-wise
It goes down as a 12 yard run. I guess it was a backward pass

This is a big chance now. 3:16 left in the 3rd
ISU needs to score and get back control of this game!
Went to Iowa game today
Well, the marching band pregame show anyway.
I’m glad I’m done with college, Old Style is no sort of civilized breakfast

Fucking All-Americans
sure wish more of them decided “Hey I’d like to go somewhere cold and play in the middle of nowhere!”

The Jethro's BBQ ad
Probably doesn’t do much to shake the image of Iowa as a bunch of hicks and hillbillies

Monkey Wrench
Fitting lead-in for Mizzou’s senior day

Missouri is so stupid
They don’t realize we painted the telephone trophy with both ISU colors
"I am so proud to be your coach." -Paul Rhoads
yeah no kidding
it would’ve made more sense to have it black and red

This is what sucks
I love the Cyclones but athletes with raw speed always seem to have the edge on them eventually
"I am so proud to be your coach." -Paul Rhoads
Yep
It’s hard to recruit athletes…. Our D has mostly guys who wouldn’t start on other teams….

Compared to the Minn-Iowa game
which had several more punts than points

Well they can 2:00 it
if the end of the first half was a sign

The girlfriend just heard the fans doing the “M-i-z-(z-o-u)” chant and asked if it was the Mickey Mouse club of college football or something
