Complete Coverage >

It may have been a rainy day in Ames, but Bryan Petersen made it one to remember with 20 points as Iowa State survived, 78-76, against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Iowa State finishes the season in 10th place in the Big 12, and will play Oklahoma State Wednesday night in the Big 12 Tournament.

Petersen started out on fire, and it was enough to help Iowa State jump to an early 10-0 lead. Tech stayed with Iowa State the majority of the game, but it simply wasn't enough as John Roberson's shot clanked off as time ran out.

Surprisingly enough, Iowa State finishes the regular season with a 4-4 conference record at home. Sean Haluska, Bryan Petersen and Alex Thompson (and Craig Brackins?) go out as winners on their home court, and, at least for today, all's pretty good in Cyclone Country.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
