ISU at USA Junior Track Championships

The 'Clones had a decent showing at the USA Junior Track Championships, which wrapped up the season for the team. I normally wouldn't concern myself with the JTC's but based on the success that the team had in Fayetteville, I'm intrigued to see the future of ISU track & field.

Freshmen Jordon Andreassen took third in the heptathlon, Kianna Elahi took sixth in the 400-meter and Dan Newhouse took 13th in the javelin throw.

From talking to coaches, I don't think it's too hard to qualify for the JTC's, but it's good to see that ISU track and field is competing at a high level, even if it isn't on the main track scene.

With three freshman placing in the event, I feel like there is a good base building up on the track team and it should be able to follow in the footsteps of the veterans like Lisa Koll and the young bucks like Betsy Saina and Hillary Bor.

Congrats to the Cyclones track team...

It is good to see our freshman do well at a national meet. As with several sports at ISU the coaches take marginal atheletes and turn them into stars. Liza Koll is a great example. Any national competition is good and the results should only be a springboard for next season.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
