Honestly it really doesn't. I know it sounds small-time, and I know Texas isn't the powerhouse this year they've been the past 3 years or so.... But when the Cyclones can go down to Austin, and beat a team that's better than them on paper, it says a lot. When you don't have a history of beating ranked teams, and do not have a history of beating Texas teams not named Baylor, it honestly does not get a whole ton better than this as an Iowa State fan!
There are a lot of storylines with the game. Iowa State winning the turnover battle (4 to 1), A-Rob rushing for over 100 yards, just beating Texas for the first time ever, but honestly the storyline for me is the fact our guys played hard... How many teams out there can go through a 68-27 loss, a 52-0 loss, and follow that up by knocking a ranked team off on the road? That's a reflection of not only the excellent coaching staff, but also the type of kids that are in the program. We went in there, played hard, and had the confidence we could win the game, when everybody was saying they could not (myself included). Kudos to those guys!
There is a pep rally in Ames at 8pm at the indoor facility. I won't be able to make it up there tonight, but having gone to the Nebraska one, it's a fun time. If you live within 15-20 minutes of the area, there's really no reason why you shouldn't go. Support the guys!
With 4 games left, there is still a lot to play for, and the next month will either be very exciting, or a heartbreak. Either way, it's better than having the season practically over!
