It's a big day for ISU commitments. ISU football just got a commitment from Woodlands (Texas) DE Mitchell Meyers, per a source.

Iowa State picks up their fifth football commit for 2012 - in an area of need, no doubt. Mitchell Meyers has said yes to Iowa State as a DT.
Coach Fred Hoiberg gets one of his top targets in the 2012 class in Nkereuwem Okoro. Don't worry, we'll try to figure out ways to remember his name, but thankfully, he also goes by Kerwin. Okoro is a shooting guard, generally regarded as a three-star prospect, but his offers are impressive. Okoro chose to become a Cyclone over offers from Arizona, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M. More to come.
Happy Father's Day to everyone out there. In my mind, it's a day that is rightfully entwined with sports. Anyway, here are a few great articles on some of the good and the not-so-good fathers in the sports world.
Linking to an SBNation story...how about that? Anyways, Hollis was going to be fighting for time in the backfield. He was impressive in practices as a true freshman, but the job is Shontrelle Johnson's to lose for now. Expect Hollis to be suspended for possibly a game.
These rankings have been making their way around the internet. It is early, and that makes things hard to project in my mind. Case in point: Baylor is ranked number one. I know they are bringing back some good talent, but I'm not sure they can make that jump. Iowa State is at number nine. I guess the team will need to show some stuff on the court, as it will be hard to project anything about the team with all the transfers. Overall though, a good discussion piece.

According to the Des Moines Register, ISU picked up 3 time Iowa state champion John Meeks of Roosevelt who changed his commitment from Nebraska. This makes me excited for the following reasons: "John Meeks is ranked fifth nationally at 130 pounds by HighSchoolWrestling.net. Meeks is 123-0 in three high school seasons."
This is what happens to a mostly dormant blog over the summer when you make a snarky post about Nebraska. The hits went up slightly.
Coach Hoiberg announced tonight ISU will play Michigan in Ann Arbor next year. Return game in Ames in 2013. Series is tied at 4-4.

Iowa State with a quality OOC team coming onto the schedule. Assume this means for the 2011-12 season.
I know I'm late on this, as usual. It's too bad when people go way before they were supposed to. My thoughts go out to OU's football team.
