Lost in the shuffle last night was news that some UConn fans pushed the Cyclone mascot down a flight of concrete stairs, shattering two bones in the arm of the student inside. We wish the mascot a speedy recovery, and a pox of the house of Huskie.
The Iowa Corn Growers association had a meeting today to talk about the trophy with University officials. The main thing we learned is that they're scrapping the current trophy, they're opening the design of the trophy up to the public, and that there will be an "interim" trophy in the meantime. I'll have more on this in a bit, but it seems to be a step in the right direction.
The wonderful folks over at Cowboys Ride For Free have a very intriguing piece comparing the Big 12's success from top to bottom vs the Big 10, SEC, and Pac 10. There is some very interesting data there, and good news for ISU fans and fans of the conference overall.
Cyclones.com has video of Iowa State's 1976 win over Nebraska on the website today. Sweet cowboy hats, mustaches, & feathered hair; it's all in the video. Particularly great is Luther Blue's kickoff return for a touchdown at the 2:30 mark and a REALLY disappointed Nebraska fan at 5:09.
Kane Seely, an outside linebacker prospect, is the sixth commitment to CPR's 2012 recruiting class. Jake Knott 2.0?
LB Jake Knott and OT Kelechi Osemele both make the watch list. Good sign for the future, if you ask me.

"Iowa State committed to winning despite lack of historical success, God told me to come to Ames, I'm scared of winter, I can save your struggling program, etc, etc"
Learn this and other fascinating facts in this 810 WHB interview with Paul Rhoads.
Really great article on CycloneReport about the '95-'97 mens basketball team. Good interviews with Tim Floyd, Kenny Pratt, Kelvin Cato & others.
