It doesn't make sense, but nothing revolving around ISU athletics ever does."I’ve talked to a number of people that have taken six, seven, eight teams to NCAA Tournament," Thompson said. "So I found there is a number of these guys as head coaches of major universities. I don’t think there is a problem in finding who you want, it’s up to (ISU athletic director) Jamie (Pollard) to see what he thinks is the best result he can get right now for the program."

Spears, a 6-7 320-pound left tackle, chose Iowa State over Memphis, SFA, and South Alabama. He also received some interest from Utah. Spears, a star basketball player at Arp, has only played two years of football, one at Arp, and one at Trinity Valley. Spears will sign on Wednesday, and join former high school teammate Sedrick Johnson in Ames, Iowa.
