Dri Archer Nearly Breaks NFL Combine Record for 40-Yard Dash

Dri Archer came into the 2014 NFL Combine with a goal of breaking Chris Johnson's record time in the 40-yard dash. The time to beat was 4.24 seconds, and Archer almost made good on his goal.

In his first run, he clocked an unofficial time of 4.29 seconds. His second run was even better (4.28 seconds). When the official numbers were announced, his best time was revised to 4.26.

That's right -- Dri Archer was just two one-hundredths of a second slower than Chris Johnson.

The video speaks for itself (and includes both of his runs), but there are two more you need to see.

First, NFL Network compared Archer's run against that of Marquise Goodwin, last year's champ in the 40. To do this, they "simulcast" the two runs, one on top of the other.

Second, NFL Network released a video about Archer's overall performance, with some views of him in the other drills.

You certainly can't say that they're not going him (and the MAC) his due publicity.

As for Chris Johnson, he tweeted about Archer...

Can't lie archer had the boi nervous

Darell Hazell to be hired as Kent State Head Coach

Tom Dienhart reports that Ohio State wide receivers coach Darrell Hazell will be hired as the new head coach of the Kent State Golden Flashes. Coach Hazell is the best wide receivers coach in the country, and his loss will definitely hurt. But he deserves it. Coach Hazell will win at Kent State, and we wish him all the luck in the world there. As a possible replacement, look for current Rutgers wide receivers coach P.J. Fleck to be interviewed. He was a graduate assistant under Hazell in 2006, and is an excellent recruiter. Current and former Ohio State players went to Twitter to wish Coach Hazell luck, and if it wasn't clear how loved he was before, it is now. Jake McQuaide: u wonder why OSU has so many receivers in the league? Coach Hazell. great coach. great guy. Mike Brewster: Coach Hazell you are the man, I know you will do great at Kent State. Duron Carter: Congrats to Coach Hazell.... he deserves it!!! Best coach you coulda ask for..... Brian Rolle: So when was our coaches going to tell us that coach Hazell was leaving!!!!! WTF!!! Congrats to coach but man we gone lose one hell of a a coach. Jon Thoma: Wowww just hearing about coach Hazell going to Kent. Very exciting for him, best of luck. Great coach and a better man. Cinnamon Sticks!! Jake Stoneburner: Very happy for coach Hazell but man I'm bummed out he's leaving. Such a great coach and an even better person!

According to several sources, KSU completed interviews with the three finalists for its head-coaching vacancy on Thursday when Ohio State assistant head coach and wide receivers coach Darrell Hazell was on the Kent campus. Texas wide receivers coach Bobby Kennedy visited on Wednesday and Alabama wide receivers coach Curt Cignetti was in Kent last weekend.

If Hazell is hired, look for Ohio State to possibly replace him with P.J. Fleck, current wide receivers coach at Rutgers and a former Ohio State graduate assistant.
