I'm one of the last people to rely on Scout for information on football commitments. CycloneNation is a joke of a website, so I'll always go to CycloneReport for recruiting info. However, Scout has two guys as commitments that Rivals doesn't. LB Thomas Gooden and TE/OL Kurt Hammerschmidt. I don't think they are confirmed as commitments until Rivals does. Hell, neither guy actually appears to be in the Rivals database.
On Gooden:
Talented middle linebacker prospect who led his team in tackles as a senior with 114. He also had one interception and two fumble recoveries.
I'm guessing this is where Scout got news of the commitment....
As far as Hammerschmidt, Scout says:
As a senior, Hammerschmidt had seven catches for 87 yards this season. He was also credited with 30 tackles and four sacks.
Iowa State was the first to offer Kurt, and, apparently, that led to a commitment over the last weekend. The article states that he will either come in and play tight end or defensive end.
Either way, that last name has even more versatility than Darks'. Brent Musburger could have fun with that.
