Not quite sure how we managed to win this one. It was an ugly game to behold, that's for sure.
Craig Brackins dropped 38 points, but tonight's win goes much deeper than that. Justin Hamilton showed up in a big way in place of Alex Thompson, who suffered a minor ankle injury earlier this week. The true freshman dropped eight points on 4-7 shooting to go with 12 boards. I've long said he's guy that seems to know where he needs to be on the court, it's a matter of him putting it together. As he gets experience and learns how to score on the block, he has the tools to be a serviceable center. As of right now, if he can provide a decent complement to Brackins down low, he'll continue to get minutes.
Although the Cyclones tried their damndest to give this one away (up 6 with 35 seconds left and allowing Houston a chance to tie), they managed to show some mettle on the road and was able to wash away a little of the stink from the loss to the Jackrabbits.
