Who's Your Starter: Wide Receiver #2

QB: Austen Arnaud (So.)
RB: Alexander Robinson (So.)
TE: Derrick Catlett (Jr.)
WR: Marquis Hamilton (Jr.)

After what was initially a pretty close competition for the #1 receiver spot,  Marquis Hamilton got some support from some key demographics (namely, people that read this blog) and tied up the spot by noon today, which I had kind of set in my head as the time to end it.

The battle for the #2 receiver spot, in my mind, is probably a no brainer, but I'll be more than willing to throw some names out there. Here's some stats from some returners and we'll even throw the recruits in this time.

Sumrall: 54 catches, 434 yards, 8.0 average, 25 long, 0 TD, 36.2 ypg
Franklin: 2 catches, 5 yards, 1 TD
Messiah: 2 catches, 2 yards
Jones: 1 catch, 6 yards

As you can see, the experience drops off a touch after RJ. There are also names that haven't received playing time that might this year, such as Jake Williams, Joel Zitek, Alex Sandvig, and Derron Montgomery. Don't forget as well that four new recruits are coming in, further complicating the race for playing time.

Carlson: 46 catches, 743 yards, 9 TD (JUCO)
S. Johnson: 41 catches, 633 yards, 12 TD
Range: Played QB in high school
Darks: Played QB in high school

Now, while Range and Darks are likely redshirts (and Darks may not even play receiver), Carlson and Sed Johnson are a lot closer to the field of play. Carlson is known as an all out speedster, while Johnson was the top recruit in ISU's incoming freshman class.

I'm gonna open this poll up a bit, but I think I know who should win.
