Iowa State Inks Second '09 Football Committment

A long dead period in both Iowa State football recruiting, and Iowa State news in general, ended today as Gene Chizik received his second commitment for 2009, three-star linebacker Ryan Mosby.

Mosby garners a 5.5 Rivals Rating, making him a solid three-star prospect. The 6-0, 197 pound outside linebacker is listed as a safety prospect on Scout, but it is unclear what position he will be looking at for ISU. The #64 linebacking prospect committed to the Cyclones over Colorado State and UNLV, and was apparently also receiving interest from schools such as Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Oklahoma and USC according to Scout.

As a sophomore, Mosby racked up 110 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss to go with five sacks.

One of the more interesting parts of this story is the fact that Mosby is teammates with linebacker Austin Moss, long a target of the Cyclone coaching staff.

Mosby is a prospect that the Cyclone coaching staff will work hard to push to grow into his frame. He has some size to add to be a quality linebacker prospect, but, he's a solid get nonetheless.
