James Smith won easily for the start at the free safety position - so the readers have spoken, and set their starting lineups. Just four more positions left - punter, kicker, kick return and punt return (unless there's an overwhelming urge to do deep snapper as well....)

We're going to start out with an easy one at punter. Mike Brandtner was one of the few bright spots last year, probably because he was out on the field so much. He's already 9th on the all-time ISU punting list with a 40.2 career punt average, and it's hard to see true freshman Chad Powell unseating him. Powell did average nearly 45 yards per punt as a left footer his senior year though, so he could be a nice insurance policy.
