Rhoads Picks Up Five Commits...More to Come?

As has been reported by both CycloneSportsReport and CycloneReport, the Cyclone football team has picked up a number of verbal pledges from their big recruiting weekend. While CycloneReport has only reported two commitments, CSR has reported five:

Jansen Watson, FS, 5-10, 180 Kissimmee (FL) Osceola High School

Donnie Jennert, WR, 6-6, 192 St.Cloud (FL) St.Cloud High School

Willie Scott, OLB, 6-2, 215 Orlando (FL) Jones High School

Brandon Mims, ATH, 6-1, 160 Palmdale (CA) Palmdale High School

Walter Woods, DT, 6-0, 275 Palmdale (CA) Palmdale High School

A nice crop, to be sure. A couple of really intriguing prospects in this bunch. First of all, Watson and Jennert switched commitments this weekend (Watson from Colorado State, Jennert from Florida Atlantic). I admittedly don't know a whole lot about Watson and Scott off of the top of my head.

It looks like Rhoads is really trying to address the obvious weak spot of the team on defense (yes, all of it). While it's unknown if any of the five new guys can come in and play right away, everyone except for Jennert (and possibly Mims) will have a legit shot to see time. Watson (and probably Mims) will be able to compete for time in a thin crop at safety, while Scott and Woods add much needed depth to the rest of the defense.

Jennert and Woods are both intriguing. Both are kind of hybrids....Jennert played WR in high school, while looking like a TE at the college level. Woods, honest to God, was a 275 pound linebacker. One can only hope that he will transition to the line and be able to show off some of the quicks and pursuit abilities that he did at LB.

I would expect that we may get another verbal or two from the visitors this weekend.
