Drake, Drake, Drake. I can tell you something. I absolutely HATE that we have lost three straight games to this program. It makes me sick. A couple of years ago when Drake was magical and we sucked? Ok fine, but that should be every-once-in-a-while, not every fricking year!
The game tips off at 7:00pm at the Knapp Center, and can be seen on Mediacom Connections Channel 22. It's going to look like a high school game feed, but it's better than nothing. You can also pony up some $$ and watch the game on Clone Zone.
Josh Young may miss this game, but that doesn't mean Drake would have no chance. Drake did drop 82 points without him. It was against IUPUI, but still. We are going to have to play more like Friday than we did on Sunday.
Still, it's early in the season with Drake having played one game, and they have a lot of young players. It's hard to say if this team is a good offensive team, or if it was just one good game in that respect. A guy to watch for is Arkansas-State transfer Ryan Wedel. He scored 23 and went 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.
Also, Dendy is out until the Chicago Tournament. It stinks because he's a high energy guy, and that's the type of guy you want to have playing on your team on the road.
What I'm going to be looking for is how this team starts to begin the half. Both games thus far we've gotten off to a slow start, and that is a recipe for bad things when you're playing away from home. Also, we've been pretty sloppy at times. All of these things can be corrected. It's just based on focus, and not trying to do too much. Do what the coaching staff is telling you to do, play your game, and the rest of it will be taken care of.
I have confidence that these guys will be ready to go. I'm sure guys like Brackins and DG are tired of losing to this team every year they've been in the program. I hope to see some improvement, and also to see the Knapp Center full of ISU fans. I will be there doing my part, and hopefully some of you are too!
