There's Cyclones Mens Basketball Tonight

New, 3 comments

I am going to keep this pretty short, and will post more when I recap it, but something that is getting lost in the shuffle with the Nebraska game and other things going on, is the Men's Basketball Season is underway tonight with an Exhibition against Dubuque.

Just a few notes:

  • Hilton Coliseum is up and running after a ton of work that people did to get it ready. The videoboard will not be working, so those doing a Clone Zone on the game are going to get shots from a handheld camera. I will be at the game and do a writeup on each player I saw if you miss any action. I also know the videoboard will be eventually fixed, but I think it may be a little bit of time yet.
  • The starting lineup for right now is expected to be DG, Jake Anderson, Christopherson, Melvin Ejim, and Vanderbeken.
  • I'd fully expect to see all eligible players play, with the exception of DeMarcus Phillips who broke his hand and will be out for another few weeks.
  • These exhibition game isn't about the W or L, it's more about the coaching staff evaluating players in a game situation, and trying out different combinations of players on the court. Do not try to project the season based on what you see tonight.

I'm most looking forward to seeing what style this team plays, how they look on offense and defense. I'm also looking forward to seeing how DG looks as the centerpiece of the offense, along with seeing Ejim, a player the staff has been lauding this entire preseason. Should be a fun night!
