DeVondrick Nealy, 7th Rated All Purpose Back, Commits to Iowa State

New, 5 comments

This was tweeted by John Walters late last night, about the newest Iowa State committement to the 2011 recruiting class.

Nealy is a 5'10, 175lb all purpose running back out of Monticello, Florida, who apprently runs a 4.5 40. According to Rivals, it was down to Arkansas, Iowa State, and Michigan.  Other programs he received offers from early on was Auburn, GA Tech, North Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, and Texas Tech.

If my math is correct, the 2011 class is now 18 players deep, with 7 more spots to fill, as both Jantz and Tautolo will enroll at Iowa State this semester, and I believe that counts against last year's scholarship count instead of 2011. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.

This is a big recruiting get for Paul Rhoads and his staff. Iowa State is able to get these athletics RBs out of Florida. Hopefully Iowa State can put together an offensive line over the next few years that can open up the holes for these guys, similar to what we had in the 2009 season!
