For those of you across the state of Iowa, that love the Cyclones, the Tailgate Tour starts up today. What is the Tailgate Tour you ask? It's a free way for families in other cities to come out, meet some of the coaches and players, eat some food, take part in activites, and all of that jazz.
To be completly honest, it isn't really my thing. But doing these kinds of things can help build a fanbase, and it gives a chance for people who live in communities relativley far from Ames, to have some access to the AD, Coaches, and for kids to meet some of players, get autographs, and all of that.
The stops this year are as follows:
May 11 Pella, Vermeer Global Pavillion (Noon - 1pm)
May 11 Cedar Rapids, U.S. Cellular Center (5:30-7:30pm)
May 12 Dubuque, Grand River Center (Noon -1pm)
May 12 Davenport, River Center (5:30-7:30pm)
May 24 Osceloa, Terrible's Lakeside Casino (Noon - 1pm)
May 24 Waterloo, National Cattle Congress (5:30-7:30pm)
May 25 Charles City, Floyd County Fairgrounds (Noon - 1pm)
May 25 Clear Lake, Surf Ballroom (5:30-7:30pm)
June 6 Carroll, Carroll Country Club (11:30am-12:30pm)
June 6 Okoboji, Arnold's Park Amusement Park (5:30-7:30pm)
June 7 Sioux City, Stoney Creek Inn (Noon - 1pm)
June 7 Omaha, Henry Doorly Zoo (6-8pm)
When I was looking at the stops, I was thinking the same thing you are. "How in the heck is Terrible's Lakeside Casino NOT out of the business?!". One of the many unsolved mysteries in the state of Iowa, in my opinion.
So, if you're looking at things to do this summer and you like this sort of thing, consider checking it out. If you do go, I'd be interested in hearing what was said, and what your impressions were.
