It's been a long time. I shouldn't have left you, without a dope beat to step to. But I did. Lots of things going on personally for me, and I imagine my time on this site is going to be limited, but I have to make the most of it.
Commenting on some old news: Phil Steele likes Osemele, Lenz, Shontrelle, Knott, LJ, Klien, and Ruempolhamer. Kudos to those guys. Preseason lists don't mean much, but make for some conversation in the offseason when there's nothing else going on.
Other news-ish things going on: Athlon has 4 teams in the Big 12 in their Top 25 (Texas A&M #11, Oklahoma State #12, Texas #24, and Mizzou #24). Texas A&M at #11 seems high. I just don't know if they are the best team in the conference. I was on their bandwagon last year. I predicted 10 wins on this site and they got 9. I could seem them being good, but I don't know if they make leaps. I am guessing Oklahoma is at #1 or #2, so we will see. The good news in a way, is there are no other Iowa State opponents on the list.
At this point, I am starting to think about what my expectations for the year are. I kind of hold off, but now that we are about 3 months away, I feel like I need to have an expectation at this point. I don't think the D-Line or QB play gets any worse from last year, and I think there are 7 winnable games on the schedule. That said, I think this team goes 5-7, because we never win all of our winnable games I don't think. It's June though, so we will see. Either way, I would expect this team to compete for a bowl berth, but we will see if it happens.
